|
|
| I am currently using UPS from within shipworks and when I get rates for the current package we are working on the rates are much higher than the rates we get from using worldship. I know I will only be charged by UPS for the rates on my contract but how can I get the shipworks system to accurately quote shipping rates for my account. Thanks |

Hello,
If you choose "UPS -> UPS Preferences" from the main menu, and go to the Processing tab, you will find an input box for "Rate Type".
From this box choose one of:
"Daily Pickup"
"Occasional"
"Suggested Retail Rates"
to match your account type. ShipWorks will use this option to get rates from UPS. The option has no affect on the actual rates given when processing a real shipment - that of course depends on your account.
Thanks,
Brian |

| I'm currently testing the 30 trial version of ShipWorks. I see that you keep referring to the UPS Preferences menu, however that is not on my list of options. Any suggestions? |

From the ShipWorks main screen choose the "UPS" menu item from the menu at the top of the screen. When that opens the third menu item from the top should be UPS Preferences.
The UPS Preferences are also accessible from the UPS OnLine Tools screen using the "Preferences" button.
UPS Preferences window can only be accessed after going through the UPS OnLine Tools registration wizard.
Thanks,
Brian |

|
|
| I already have the preferences set up for daily pickup but the rates shipworks is coming up with are higher than the contract rates for my account. Is there a way to link to the UPS rates for my account so that shipworks is keeping an accurate log of shipping expenses. My rates are lower than the rates shipworks is calculating and this will be quite inconvenient come tax time. Thanks |

The rates that you end up being charged for processing the shipments are of course the actual rates for your account. That rate, the final amount you are actually charged by UPS, is what ShipWorks saves as the shipment cost.
Thanks,

|
|
| The rates I am actually charged are lower than the rates shipworks is quoting and saving in the system. The rates I am being charged by UPS are rates given as part of my contract with UPS and shipworks is providing inaccurate records based on my actual expense for that shipment. There must be a wy to get shipworks to quote the same rates quoted on my account as when I use the worldship program. Thanks again |

Currrently, UPS does not have the technology/tools in place to allow third party developers to display negotiated rates from within their respective software applications, such as ShipWorks. As Brian mentioned in the post above, what you are ultimately billed will be accurate and based on your negotiated rates.
In previous discussions with UPS, I have been told they are working to deliver this capability to third party developers. When it becomes available, we will work on including it in a future release of ShipWorks.
Please let us know if you have further questions.
Thanks,
Wes

FWIW I don't think worldship displays contract rates either.
I've talked to my local UPS e-commerce sales specialist about this and he wasn't aware of any planned immediate changes to address this 'discrepancy'
What Shipworks COULD do would be allow us to implement a set of formulas to modify the standard rates and let the new result appear as a seperate value ie:
UPS retail rate: X
Estimate discounted rate: (X*.95) |

Hello,
Yes, you are correct. UPS WorldShip does not display 'live' negotiated rates either. We work closely with UPS and have been told they are working to deliver this functionality in an updated version of their OnLine Tools, sometime in 2006.
Thanks,
