|
|
I currently have Shipworks ver 2.9.67 (rev. 24536). I run Shipworks on a PC.
I wish to change which computer that I use for the main Shipworks program database. I have one main computer and a second computer that we run Shipworks from. I wish to swap the computers as to which has the main Shipworks program and database.
I currently use Shipworks for Marketworks, Channeladvisor and Amazon and have 3 separate licenses.
Please advise as to how to make this swap.
Sincerely,
Yogi Krikorian

First create a backup of your ShipWorks database. Then install ShipWorks, including a new instance of SQL Server and a database, on the new computer. Move the backup file to the new computer, and restore the backup from within ShipWorks. Any other computers running ShipWorks will need updated to point to the database on the new computer.
If you need help with any of that, please give us a call at 1-800-95-APPTIVE.

Hi Chris,
I did as you instructed. I was able to install the database on the new pc, but I can not connect to the new database from the old server.
When I launch Shipworks on the old pc, it asks my to "Connect to SQL Server." I refresh services, but I am do not see the GATEWAYKRISAR\SHIPWORKS for the new pc that I installed the database on. I do see a GATEWAYKRISAR\SHIPWORKS3 (not the number 3 at the end) which is from when I had a failed attempt to install Shipworks 3. I have removed the failed install of Shipworks 3.
Why can't I see the database on the new PC that I installed the database on?
Please advise,

You can try to manually enter the PCNAME\DATABASENAME to get it to connect, even if ShipWorks does not locate it.
If that doesn't work, you'll need to create a case through our Contact page. We'll get back with you to help get it going as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Brian |
