Had to reboot the PC today (lost link to printer while printing labels). Now SQL is not there. The tray icon shows no connection.

What to do?

Check in the windows services to see if it's running. Can't say I've ever seen the Microsoft SQL application remove itself from a computer. You can click Start > either RUN (XP) or in the search box type > services.msc > find the Microsoft SQL Server service, ensure it's running and set to automatic startup.

The SQL server is running but the SQL server agent is stopped and can not be started. I rebooted 3x.

SQL Agent isn't supposed to be running. Only the SQL Server (ShipWorks) or similarly named would be running. Did the computer name or anything about your Local Area Network change?

Sounds like SQL is there by viewing the services, can you elaborate on what you mean by not there? Are you able to open/use ShipWorks?

I went through the list of MS SQL installed programs (via control panel) and repaired anyone that had the option of repair (other than remove). Then rebooted and now all is back to normal. No idea how it got polluted.

Thanks for the help.
