I use UPS and Miva Merchant with ShipWorks. When I process the label, it's consistently $1 more than the charge I'm getting directly from UPS. How do I get the correct charge to be applied?
Also, how do you get the shipping information transferred over so that when you download labels, you are not having to select the shipping method again?
One last one, does an e-mail get sent automatically after a UPS label is processed or do I have to send these manually somehow?
thanks,
Dan |

Hello Dan,
When you say the charge in ShipWorks is $1 more than what you get directly from UPS - do you mean directly from the UPS rate calculation in Miva Merchant or from some other method? Miva Merchant uses rate table calculations and if you do not have your Miva Merchant system configured properly with the most up-to-date rate tables you could be providing your customers with inaccurate rates.
ShipWorks communicates directly with UPS to calculate rates in real time and bill you accordingly. Final shipping rates displayed after processing are listed and billed according to any discounts that you may have pre-negotiated with UPS for your account number.
Currently because not everyone uses the same rate calculations and names for their shipping methods there is not a direct way to map the shipping method the customer picked at checkout to a shipping method in ShipWorks. What you can do however is turn on the column in the main grid to show the shipping method selected by your customer at checkout. When you need to print labels of a similar type (i.e. UPS Ground) you can select all the orders with the same shipping method by sorting on the shipping method column. To select multiple non-consecutive orders you can hold down the control key while clicking on orders. Or to select consecutive orders you can hold the shift key while selecting the first and last order in the series.
If you use the "Download UPS Labels" feature in ShipWorks, you can set the preference to automatically send an email notification including the tracking link to your customer after the label has been processed. If you wish to include your own HTML based email notifications (with your company logo/branding) you can turn off this preference, then right click on the orders after processing with UPS, and choose the desired email to send.
Please let us know if you have additional questions.

What I did for comparison was log in to UPS.com and process a label and then compared the price to what ShipWorks is generating for me and the difference is $1 every time. I'm aware of the differences in Miva but the difference I'm seeing is in the actual UPS charge. Any ideas for the variance?
Thanks,
Dan |

Hi Dan,
When you compared prices were you comparing to the final price listed after processing in ShipWorks, or were you comparing to the price listed after getting available rates? The final price that is listed after processing in ShipWorks should be consistent with what you are receiving from UPS on their web site, based on your account number.

I've linked the two results below. The first is the result from processing the label through ShipWorks. The second is processing the label through UPS Online taken from the "Review Shipment" screen which is the final cost for the shipment. I've done this a few times and each time it's off by $1.
Shipworks rate: http://www.sage.tv/0_imgDir/misc/SWrate.jpg
UPS rate: http://www.sage.tv/0_imgDir/misc/UPSrate.jpg
Can you look into what may be causing this? I'm using the same login information for ShipWorks that I do for UPS online.
Thanks,
Dan |

Hi Dan,
Can you please send the tracking numbers for both packages to support@interapptive.com? In your email, please indicate which tracking number is associated with the more costly shipping rate. We will contact UPS to see if they can provide some insight into this issue.

Hello,
After investigating, the reason for this extra charge is that Delivery Confirmation was selected in ShipWorks. UPS charges an additional fee for this service (separate from email confirmation which is provided free of charge).
Please let us know if you have additional questions.
