As of May 31st, 2015, rates for Priority Mail International (PMI) to Canada will change. There used to be one flat rate for shipping to Canada. That’s a bit surprising, considering how big Canada is, eh? The new rates are calculated by zones determined by origin and destination zip codes. There are 7 different zones numbered from 1.1 through 1.8. For more information about this and all the other USPS rate changes, please refer to the 2015 USPS Postage Rate Increase Guide published by Stamps.com or the Price Change 2015 Presentation published by the USPS.
With this new zone-based pricing, zip codes to Canada are required for all Canadian shipments. ShipWorks has introduced a friendly warning message to remind you if this zip code is omitted. When you have your shipping information entered correctly, your shipping rate will display for you as always, and it will be the new zone-based shipping rate. We do our best to make sure that your shipping process continues as smoothly as possible.
Be sure to upgrade to the newest version of ShipWorks to take advantage of this and all the other changes we’ve made to support the USPS rate changes coming this Sunday. Please reach out to us if you have any questions about upgrading or about the new PMI rates to Canada. We’re always happy to help.
